Protocol for Comments

My previous post invited you, the readers of my blog, to join the discussion in the comments section. That invitation stands, but there are some rules that must be followed in order to participate...

First of all, please keep the comments civil. If a point can't be made without rudeness, there's a good chance that it simply can't be made.

Secondly, and this goes right along with the first rule, I will not accept comments which contain name-calling. All people are entitled to the respect of correctly using their proper names.

Thirdly, and most importantly, I will not accept a comment that contains profanity. Make your point without swearing.

Inaugural Post

A couple of days ago I was arguing with the television during the Congressional hearing with the BP CEO, and I realized that, as sound and reasonable as my ideas were, they were getting nowhere. The TV certainly wasn't interested in my profundities. So, I decided to create a forum for my rants, ideas, ramblings, opinings, and, sorry, the inevitable redundancies.

The views expressed in the blog posts are mine, and mine only. My family usually agrees with me, at least in principle, but they are understandably nervous about what I may write. Thus the following disclaimer - my views do not necessarily reflect the views of the various members of the Smith family.

I expect that occasionally my posts may ruffle some feathers. If you find your blood pressure rising as you read, I'd suggest that this blog is not for you. I do welcome discussion and debate, and will actively participate in the comments following the posts. So, if you want to add your two cents, please join in!
